"If a Ballywood actor’s dog gets hurt, it will be breaking news and will be covered by all Newspapers and Channels in India. But when a Street Kid dies on NJP Platform or in accident, no one seems to care”, said Chief Reporter, Sisu Sambad.

What are some solutions to problems of street children?

  THE STORY OF "RAMU"

Being the Publisher of "Sisu Sambad" I would like to tell you a different perspective to solve the problem of Street Children:

This is "Ramu" of Haiderpara, of Siliguri (he doesn't know his real name, but people called him Ramu). He lives in New Jalpaigurui Railway Station. He doesn't have anyone is his family. He doesn't know what is money, he doesn't know what is education, he doesn't know what is Government and even "Aadhaar Card".

He just knows that daily he has to beg to many people ! Some may refuse. Some may ignore, Some will give few bucks and thats the money he has to give to the "Puri Sabji Vender" in the Platform No 4. Shyam (Not real Name) the owner of the "Puri Sabji Vender" will give "Ramu" one plate of "Puri Sabji" to eat.

In this reality I can't, even you reader can't understand what is the cause to make "Ramu" begger. But the Passengers of NJP Railway Station must have saw "Ramu". Isn't, giving "Ramu" money just a temporary solution for him?

THE SISU SAMBAD AND ITS IMPACT

Sisu Sambad, or Children’s News, is not like other newspapers. It is run by children who live on the streets, and focuses on the harsh realities of child labour, early marriages, sexual abuse and other issues affecting the thousands of children living in slum area in Siliguri.

Begging is not the solution ! Sisu Sambad is thinking in a different way. If we provide the money for his fooding in different way or if we provide some knowledge in publication of "Sisu Sambad" like "Journalism" or "Press Photography" then it will give "Ramu" new dimension in his life. If we put "Ramu" in a Primary Government School then "Ramu" can get ealy education. The "Mission" of "Sisu Sambad" is to provide "Ramu" in two ways; Early Education and Vocational Training like Journalism and Press Photography. Education and Vocational Training are the only permanent solution to poverty. Inaddition to that "Sisu Sambad" will provide "Monthly Stipened" to "Ramu".

With Warem regards

Mr. Subho Dey, MBA
